Ghatak Of Indian Army To Be Equipped With New Sniper Rifles

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Swiss, Russian and Israeli firms are in the fray for supplying over 2,000 sniper rifles to the Indian Army for equipping the 'Ghatak' (strike force) in its more than 300 Infantry battalions.Every infantry unit has Ghataks. They are basically the ad hoc Commando Platoon that the infantry battalions had and the nomenclature was changed by Gen Bipin Joshi to Ghataks.

The Request for Proposal for the procurement was issued earlier this year by the Indian Army to replace and augment the existing inventory of Dragunov and Galil sniper rifles.

"Fresh commercial bids have been submitted by five vendors for the contract," said an Army source.

The sniper rifles are being procured for the Ghatak in the Indian Army after the Government decided that they would also be used as counter-terrorist grids while they are deployed in peace locations to tackle 26/11 type attacks.

After the attacks, the elite Para Special Forces battalions were assigned the task of training these regular Infantry battalions to tackle such attacks in an urban environment.

The Directorate General of Infantry was also asked to initiate procedures for procuring specialized counter terrorism equipment for these units.

Till now, these Ghataks comprising of best soldiers in battalions were used only in Jammu and Kashmir and the North Eastern states for taking on the terrorists there.

New Target For NATO Syria And Then Iran

According to the Russains NATO is planning a military campaign against Syria to help overthrow the regime of President Bashar al-Assad with a long-reaching goal of preparing a beachhead for an attack on Iran. Which according to me is a mistake because Iran is the counterbalance world needs against the Saudis and there brand of Wahabi Islam.

The UN Security Council condemned on Wednesday ongoing violence in Syria and urged the country's authorities to stop using force against peaceful protesters, while saying the current situation in the country has not yet called for NATO interference.

"This statement means that the planning of the military campaign is well underway. It could be a logical conclusion of those military and propaganda operations, which have been carried out by certain Western countries against North Africa," Rogozin said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper published on Friday.

The Russian diplomat pointed out at the fact that the alliance is aiming to interfere only with the regimes "whose views do not coincide with those of the West."

Rogozin agreed with the opinion expressed by some experts that Syria and later Yemen could be NATO's last steps on the way to launch an attack on Iran.

"The noose around Iran is tightening. Military planning against Iran is underway. And we are certainly concerned about an escalation of a large-scale war in this huge region," Rogozin said.

Having learned the Libyan lesson, Russia "will continue to oppose a forcible resolution of the situation in Syria," he said, adding that the consequences of a large-scale conflict in North Africa would be devastating for the whole world.

I wonder when will NATO plan attacks on Riyadh because they are the main root of all evil and once Iran is out of the way there is no saying what the wahabi's will do with the new found influence in the Islamic world. At present they are a divided house with the Shia's immense hate for the Sunni's and the Sunni's murderous intent on the Shia's but once the Shia powerhouse Iran is destroyed it will help the house of Saud in establishing the long cherished world islamic government controlled from Riyadh.

Think CWG Was A Mess.... Guess Again How About P-75I

Ok What do you want to hear first

THE GOOD NEWS OR......THE VERY BAD NEWS

Lets start with Good News

News coming from MDL(Mazagon Docks) is quite encouraging. In a press statement they claim "We will deliver all the six Scorpenes, which are very silent submarines, between August 2015 and September 2018. Fabrication of pressure hulls for the first submarine is ahead of schedule...its outfitting has also begun," says MDL chief Vice-Admiral (retd) H S Malhi.
So we will get Scorpenes nearly on time,ok three years late but that is on time for India.

NOW how about the VERY BAD NEWS....

Mr. Do Nothing Minister(Defense) has completely messed up Project P75-I. Not even the RFP has been issued and it will not be done for at least few months(read years).Already three separate committee have looked into the project each giving opposite views (third report is awaited).

Therefore we will not get any new subs for at least 10 years minimum, by that time most of the 10 Kilo class Russians subs will be gone and we will be left with 6 Scorpenes(fingers crossed) + 2 Arihant class(hopefully) + 1 Chakra(Akula II class) +2-3 Kilo Class + 4 German subs
A Grand total of 15-16 submarines. You will say not too shabby eh....

The minimum deterrent required is 18 but who cares?

To put our power into perspective lets look at what our enemies have lined up against us

Pakistan has 5 active submarines with new purchases being discussed with German companies
China has 63 subs with 15-20 more being built which the general public knows about.

So we have a grand total of 68 enemy submarines with possibility of the number rising to 70-80.

Any guesses who will come out second best in any kind of deep sea engagement............

China could do Kargil on India

China could do a Kargil on India "to teach India a lesson", warned strategic affairs think-tank IDSA, adding it could be a "limited war".

The limited hostilities could be confined to a specific section of the border, limited in duration and amenable to a negotiated termination, the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) said in its report.

Projecting conflict scenarios between the two Asian giants, a report titled 'A Consideration of Sino Indian Conflict' by Ali Ahmed said, "The lower end of the conflict at this level could be a Kargil-like situation. China's aim could be to teach India a lesson so as to influence India's rise before its capacity building underway acquires traction."

The report warned this "could be a limited war confined to a specific section of the border or LAC, limited in duration and amenable to a negotiated termination".

The Kargil hostilities were triggered by infiltration of Pakistani soldiers and Kashmiri militants into positions on the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC) in 1999.

Ahmed warns at a higher level, China could indulge in a "territorial grab" by entering an area such as Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.

"At the next rung, it could be a more ambitious bid southwards up to its claim line. Lateral or horizontal expansion of conflict from one theatre to another is the next step, with the conflict engulfing one or more of the four possible theatres -- Ladakh, Central Sector, Sikkim and Arunachal," the report said.

The think-tank said in view of India becoming better prepared in future with its capability-development programmes, it could engage China's "hegemonic attention."

"Since India would be better prepared by then, China may instead wish to set India back now by a preventive war. This means current day preparedness is as essential as preparation for the future," it said.

Report On Capability Of Peoples Republic Of China To Conduct Cyber Warfare

Following is a report presented to the US congress on the activities and the capabilities of the Chinese army in using cyber war as a tool of war.

Chinese Hackers Control NASA Satellite

Chinese official e-terrorist "achieved all steps required to command" a NASA satellite, which put the satellite at risk of being controlled by these e-terrorists or destroyed or damaged, according to a draft report by the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission.

The Terra EOS AM-1 satellite, used to study climate and environmental changes, experienced nine or more minutes of interference in October 2008, according to the draft report, obtained by Defense News.

The report clearly mentions that the techniques used by these hackers were consistent with the Chinese Military Hackers technique thus leaving no doubt in anybody's mind as to where these attacks originated.

NASA spokesman Trent Perrotto confirmed that there was a "suspicious event" with the spacecraft in the summer and fall of 2008, but no data was manipulated. He confirmed that initial investigation show that no command was sent to the satellite but until further investigation are complete it will be difficult to tell what damage the Chinese have inflicted on the satellite.

The draft report noted that hackers did not issue commands to the satellite, but the interference "poses numerous potential threats."

For example:

■ Access to a satellite's controls could allow an attacker to damage or destroy the satellite.

■ The attacker could deny or manipulate the satellite's transmission.

■ An attacker could reveal the satellite's capabilities or information, such as imagery, gained through its sensors.

The U.S. Geological Survey was also a victim of cyber attacks, the report said.

In 2007 and 2008, a USGS satellite called the Landsat-7 experienced 12 or more minutes of interference, according to the report.

"The satellite continued its normal operations," USGS' Jon Campbell said, in reference to the 2007 incident. "There was no interruption of what the satellite would do normally."
